Zimbabwe Institute (ZI) is a non-government policy think tank that has operated within Zimbabwe since 2002 and uses its experience of over a decade of negotiating uncertain and fragile situations to work with key stakeholders towards democracy. The institute works with political parties to create space for parties to engage in frank and constructive dialogue and develop consensus on national issues, policies and strategies. ZI facilitates continuous engagements and interaction of political parties outside the formal structures of government and parliament through an inter-party dialogue process to tackle issues of mutual interest. The organisation has created other inclusive, credible, sustainable and safe dialogue spaces for multi-stakeholder groups therefore contributing in shaping the country’s policy direction and promotion of greater levels of understanding, and building trust among diverse national stakeholders which is essential for dialogue and debate. ZI also engages civil society, and works to strengthen their institutional governance skills and develop sustainable democratic institutions. the Vision of Zimbabwe Institute is “Enhanced engagement of key stakeholders in building a tolerant peaceful and democratic Zimbabwe” and the Mission is, “To promote inclusive processes and spaces that strengthen a culture of democracy and equality in Zimbabwe” Zimbabwe Institute strategic goals are centered around Institution Building, Partnership building and equality and Inclusion from which all progamme activities stem.
