- Legal Centre Lesvos is civil non profit organisation that was founded in 2016 on the island of Lesvos as a response to the increased number of migrants arriving in order to seek asylum in Europe. The organisation is staffed with lawyers and volunteers legally trained caseworkers and its mission is to provide free individual legal assistance to asylum seekers in Greece throughout the asylum procedure. In addition it undertakes legal representation of migrants in civil and criminal procedures, submissions to the European Court of Human Rights and other international bodies regarding human rights violations. It monitors and reports human rights and asylum law violations by contacting quarterly reports and participating or initiating advocacy actions, denouncing the violent anti-migration policies in the area. Further, it stands in solidarity with migrants and vulnerable members of society whose human rights are systematic attacked and disrespected.
